This is a remodel and renovation of a 1970s ranch style house in central Florida. The project was to open up the compartmented floor plan, but not completely. This was achieved by widening openings, lifting the ceiling in a way to not disturb the existing roof, and to add skylights to bring in natural light into the existing dark spaces. This project also integrates aging-in-place design features, such as an eat-in kitchen, that will allow for wheelchair access dining. In a similar fashion, a curb-less shower is also provided.
